In In , George Van Tassel relocated his family to , a site in the California Desert near Joshua Tree, an area which was eventually called Landers. He leased the air strip next to a sixty-foot high boulder: the “giant rock” itself. In 1951, Van Tassel and his Council of Twelve received their first contact from “Ashtar” of the planet “Sanchea.”
The first Giant Rock Saucerian-Convention”>Saucerian Convention“was first held in March 1954 and attracted over 5,000 attendees.
Van Tassel was author of Into This World and Out Again.
